Power

Sometimes called 'sphere' or 'strength'. Measured in diopters, it is always preceded by a + (plus) or a - (minus) and goes up in 0.25 increments.

BC

The shape of the back surface of the lens, which determines how the lens fits. It is usually an 8.x or 9.x number. A few brands use non-numeric base curves such as flat, median, or steep.

DIA

Refers to the width across the lens in millimeters. Most brands come in one or two sizes. It is usually a 14.x number, but can range from 13.x to 15.x.

ADD

Bifocal contacts have an additional measurement called an 'add power' that assists in bringing near vision into focus. This will be identified by either a + (plus) number or labeled high, medium or low, varying by brand.

D/N

"D" stands for dominant and "N" stands for non-dominant. This parameter is used to determine which eye is your dominant eye and is only needed when purchasing bifocal/multifocal contacts.

Biofinity Multifocal

by CooperVision

CooperVision's Biofinity Multifocal is a high-performance, monthly silicone hydrogel lens for people with presbyopia. This lens combines two unique technologies: Aquaform Comfort Science lens material and the proven Balanced Progressive Technology multifocal lens design.

Aquaform Comfort Science creates a lens material that provides high oxygen performance, keeping your eyes white and healthy. The material holds water within the lens making it naturally wet, soft and resistant to dehydration or protein deposits. Meanwhile, the Balanced Progressive Technology lens design delivers excellent vision at any distance: near, far and intermediate.
