I wore these contacts from 1991 to 1998. They were my first pair of contacts. I am writing this review in 2010 after trying many others and wearing contact consistently since 1991. These contacts were very comfortable once the user calms down about touching/sticking something in the eye. If these contacts are not immediately comfortable for you, it is probably because you need the other diameter. I first tried the smaller diameter and it was quite uncomfortable. My doctor then tried the larger diameter lens on me and immediately I could no longer feel them - perfect. If they become less comfortable over time, check that you are doing the cleaning/disinfecting/enzyming process correct. NEVER cut short your overnight disinfecting time or allow your neutralizing disc to become old; if you do, your eyes will hate you because the disinfecting solution will not neutralize properly.

These contacts required the full cleaning, disinfecting and enzyme tablet procedure. It was great for a newbie (especially for a teen) because I learned how to handle contacts properly and just how far you could push them. It has made me a much smarter contact lens user. It also forced me to become very comfortable with handling my contacts: I learned that I didn't need to treat them with kid-gloves, but I also found out what would make them tear. The cleaning process, while time-consuming and expensive, resulted in clean and comfortable contacts for the full year.

Drawbacks: The daily cleaner, disinfecting solution and neutralizing disc, and enzyme tablets were alot of extra expense on top of the standard saline (mps) and contact lens cost. They also tended to get quite fragile/thin when the year was nearly up and had a tendency to tear if not handled more gently then, so make sure you get your new pair at month 9 or 10, or you will be stuck in glasses until you can pick up a new pair.

All pros and cons considered, these are great contacts for a newbie, for two years or so, in order to learn about wearing and handling contacts. After that, you probably want the convenience of (monthly or bi-weekly) disposables. You will also find that having a new (disposable) pair handy will make you more comfortable doing things in them like swimming, water-skiing, etc.
