Legislative efforts

1-800 CONTACTS’ primary goal is to serve any customer with a valid prescription. The company proactively supports legislation which protects the right of contact lens wearers to choose where they purchase – including on the Internet. The company supports the rights granted to consumers by the Fairness to Contact Lens Wearers Act passed by Congress in 2003 – the right for contact lens wearers to separate purchase from exam, the right to obtain their prescription and the right to choose where the prescription is filled.

Principles of support

1-800 CONTACTS adheres to the following principles when supporting any legislation:

• 1-800 CONTACTS supports legislation which protects a contact lens wearer’s right to her prescription.
• 1-800 CONTACTS supports legislation which protects a contact lens wearer’s right to have her prescription filled by the retailer of her choice.
• 1-800 CONTACTS does not and will not support any legislation which creates a contact lens formulary.
• 1-800 CONTACTS does not and will not support any law which restricts a doctor’s ability to prescribe any lens for any patient.
