There are a few basic ways you can protect your vision and prevent it from getting any worse. Ready to read a quick list? Yeahhhh you are.

  • Wear shades when you’re not in the shade
  • Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.
  • Give your eyes a break from screens
  • Don’t smoke
  • Take care of your contact lenses (and don’t sleep in them!)

Ok, yes. All the above are things you should be doing for your general health. So, bonus points if you’re already doing them. Congrats, you’re also preventing your vision from getting worse.

How do I prevent computer vision syndrome?

Computer vision syndrome is eye strain due to long periods of time spent staring at digital devices. So, take a break from the screens occasionally. Make sure you’ve got at least 28 inches between you and your computer screen. Have you tried “dark mode?” You should try it. Oh, and don’t forget to blink!
