So, can contacts cause headaches?

And what should I do if mine are giving me a headache?

The short answer to yourquestion is yes, contacts can be the cause of your headaches. But there can be a few different underlying causes. If your contacts have been causing you headaches, here are a couple of questions to ask yourself: 

How long has it been since my last vision exam? 

Maybe it’s time for a new prescription. If you’re wearing lenses that aren’t quite right for you anymore, that could be the cause of your headaches.

Could I have presbyopia?

Presbyopia is a condition where the eye is unable to focus at close range. This condition usually affects people in their early 40s and headaches are one of the main symptoms. 

Do my contacts fit me properly? 

If your contacts aren’t fitting properly, your headaches could be the cause of chronic dry eye. 

Your headaches could also be caused by too much screen time or seasonal allergies… typical causes of headaches can magnify issues for contact lens wearers.
